13-year-old cyclist seriously injured in Worthing

 

A 13-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after his bicycle was in collision with a van in Worthing on Tuesday morning (December 16th).

Emergency services were called to the scene in Offington Lane, Salvington at 7.07 am. The boy, from Worthing, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where his condition is described as critical, but stable. He is to be transferred to King’s College Hospital in London.

The 30-year-old local driver of the other vehicle involved, a VW Transporter, was uninjured.

The road was closed while rescue and recovery work took place, but was reopened around 10.45 am.
