Atlantic Splash team rescued in airlift


Worthing’s brave rowers Atlantic Splash were rescued by helicopter from their rowing boat Mission Atlantic today (Monday December 9th).

The boat took on water which knocked out their entire electrical system, forcing them to send a request for help. Coastguards advised them it was unsafe to continue.

The team members are safe and were airlifted to Tenerife.

One of the team sponsors JSPC Computer Services has kindly provided them with their flights home and the team will be back in the UK tonight.

Today was the fifth day of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge described as one of the toughest races in earth. The race started the 3,000 miles from San Sebastian de La Gomera , Canaries Islands to Antigua on Thursday December 5th.

Atlantic Splash team members are: Neal Marsh, Bastien Leclair, Marc Alderman, Tom Hyland and Terry Munson.
