‘Belle’ at Connaught Cinema

‘Belle’ at Connaught Cinema

Belle (12A) is the Silver Screen showing at the Connaught Cinema and Studio tomorrow morning (Monday November 10th).  Tea and coffee is at 10.30 am with the film starting at 11.00 am.

Inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mabatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral, who was raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson).

Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the colour of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing.  Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar’s son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield’s role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

Running time:  104 minutes.

Silver Screen is a diverse mixture of the best modern movies, foreign language films and vintage Hollywood cinema, screening every Monday morning.

All tickets are £4.50 including complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

The Connaught Cinema and Studio are at 3 Union Place, Worthing.
