‘Birdman’ at Connaught Cinema and Studio

Birdman (15) starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone and Edward Norton is showing at the Connaught Cinema and Studio from Friday January 16th to Tuesday February 3rd.

This wild, savagely funny black comedy is not at all your usual kind of superhero movie.

Riggan Thomson (Keaton, Batman) is a washed-up actor who made his name starring in an iconic Hollywood franchise about the Birdman.  Now he longs to be taken seriously as a Broadway playwright and director, but his theatre production is dogged by disaster, and his Birdman alter ego just won’t leave him alone.  When famous stage actor Mike Shiner (Norton) is persuaded to join the show at the last minute, Riggan’s prayers seem to have been answered – but instead Mike’s raging ego threatens to destroy Riggan’s dreams for good.

Birdman marries scurrilous showbiz satire with the poignant tale of a man facing up to his own obsolescence, and Keaton’s performance is absolutely fearless.  A truly dazzling film.

Running time:  119 minutes.

Show times:  Friday January 30th at 8.30 pm, Saturday January 31st at 8.30 pm, Sunday February 1st at 8.30 pm and Tuesday February 3rd at 5.45 pm.

The Connaught Cinema and Studio are at 3 Union Place, Worthing.
