Body found believed to be missing cyclist

Sussex Search & Rescue Team volunteers, working with police search officers, sadly found the body of a man in woodland near Middleton on Sea on Tuesday evening (June 18th).

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be 27-year old Aelfred Morris, a Bognor man reported missing since Saturday June 15th.

His family have been told and the coroner’s officer has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Aelfred was last seen getting off a train at Barnham railway station on Saturday June 15th.  CCTV footage recorded by railway station cameras show he got off a train at Barnham shortly before 10.45 am, got onto his bike and rode away in the direction of Lake Lane. There were no more reported sightings of him after then.

Previously police reported Aelfred had set off from Worthing to cycle to his grandmother’s in Felpham but he never arrived and did not make contact with his family.
