Call for Worthing High Chair of Governors to resign

West Sussex Academy Watch launched a petition this week calling for the resignation of the Chair of Governors at Worthing High School Tony Cohen.  The group urges concerned parents and carers of Worthing High students to sign.

Worthing High was granted academy status on December 1st last year after controversial protests by both parents and teachers concerned with lack of consultation. Worthing High Academy Action Group (WHAAG) which took a lead in the protests reformed as West Sussex Academy Watch.

On February 5th this year the OFSTED released their latest report on Worthing High and concluded “this is as school that requires special measures.”    The overall effectiveness of the school was “inadequate”.

Mr Cohen was Chair of Governors during the academy application process and at the time of grant.

Worthing Sussex Academy Watch is a group of concerned parents, staff, and unions united in opposition to academies and free schools in West Sussex.
