Some of Worthing’s best upcoming bands will take part in June in what promises to be the youth music event of the year. “Rock the Chamber” jointly hosted by Worthing Borough Council, Worthing Youth Council and Ivy Arch Studios aims at encouraging young people to vote in local and general elections when they are old enough.
Young bands will compete with each other in a Battle of the Bands and the young people in the audience will vote on the performances. Bands and artists wishing to take part need to submit a demo CD to Ivy Arch Studios before June 18th 2013. Apply now at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Bands and artists will win a certificate of accomplishment from Worthing Borough Council and prizes for recording and rehearsal at Ivy Arch Studios. First prize is an eight hour recording session, second prize a four hour recording session and third, fourth and fifth prizes vouchers for rehearsal sessions at Ivy Arch Studios.
Contestants need to be 14 to 19 years old and to provide the band’s or artist’s name, genre, a brief history, and a demo of two songs which must be original. Worthing Youth Council and Ivy Arch Studios will select the final five to perform live on the night. A set list will also be required which will declare any unoriginal songs – one cover song will be permitted.
For bands that have no demo CD Ivy Arch Studios offer a quality recording session at the studios with a professional engineer at a reduced rate of £10 per hour (normally £28 per hour).
Rock the Chamber takes place on Saturday June 29th at the Assembly Hall at 6.30 pm. Tickets are £4.00 in advance or £5.00 on the door.
