Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is holding an Open Day to attract new and practicing nurses to work at its hospitals in Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham.
The special selection day on Wednesday March 25th is just the latest in a series of recruitment initiatives ensuring the Trust’s acute hospitals in West Sussex are well-staffed, despite a national shortfall of 20,000 qualified nurses.
Following a chance to meet the Trust’s senior nursing team and various assessments, successful applicants will finish the day with a firm job offer and starting date fixed.
Whether newly-qualified, experienced, or looking to return to nursing, the Trust is confident all nurses interested in a new role could find a rewarding position in one of its three hospitals.
Those newly-qualified will benefit from a highly-regarded year-long education and support programme and could enjoy working across many specialties on the Trust’s rotational programme.
Opportunities are available in accident and emergency, acute medicine, elderly care, general medicine, theatres, intensive care, general surgery and orthopaedics, with a range of contracts on offer – permanent, temporary, full and part-time.
The Trust offers flexible working to ensure a healthy work life balance is maintained, ideal for parents and those with family commitments, factors in the past that have led some nurses to stop practicing.
Now, those wishing to return to the profession can be supported through a seamless period of updating their skills and knowledge in order to become re-registered.

“In recent years we have significantly reduced the number of agency and temporary staff we use and this will be another important step in building stable nursing teams who know their patients and can deliver the consistency of care that makes a really positive impact on outcomes and recoveries.
“By recruiting to all our available posts at one time we can give people the opportunity to explore all their options and make sure we get the right nurses in the right roles. It’s also a more informal and less stressful process for candidates and a more efficient one for our medical staffing teams.”
