Cat viciously kicked in Victoria Park

A 17-year old Worthing boy has been arrested after a cat was reported to have been viciously kicked in Victoria Park, Worthing.

At around 5pm on Thursday October 10th a male was seen to kick a cat in Victoria Park. The cat, described as black and tabby looking, flew into the air with the force of the kick but then disappeared.  Police are trying to trace the cat.

PC Emma Lacey said; “We think it must have been seriously hurt, and have arrested a 17-year old local boy on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to the cat. He has been released on bail until 14 November while enquiries continue, but we have not so far been able to trace the cat or its owner, who we think is likely to be someone living near the park.

“Local enquiries, including checks with vets in Worthing, have not provided any information.

“If you know of anyone whose cat has gone missing locally or has returned home with injuries, or if you saw what happened, please contact us via 101 or email: contact.centre@sussex.ppn.police.uk quoting serial 1184 of October 10th. ”
