Conservatives in Worthing made a clean sweep in the Worthing Borough Council (WBC) elections held on Thursday May 7th.
The Conservatives successfully defended Castle, Central, Gaisford, Goring, Heene, Marine, Offington, Salvington and Selden wards and gained the remaining two wards, Broadwater and Tarring, from the Liberal Democrats.
Each of the above wards has a total of three councillors but only one councillor for each was up for election. There were no elections in Durrington and Northbrook wards as these are two member wards.
The new council for 2015-16 will be: 30 Conservatives (plus 2), 4 Liberal Democrats (down 2), 2 UKIP and 1 Green.
Tim Loughton for East Worthing and Shoreham and Peter Bottomley for Worthing West both retained their seats.
For details of the results of each ward see earlier articles published today (Friday May 8th).
