A new monthly workshop is being held in Worthing to promote effective communication skills for people supporting those with learning disabilities.
The free workshops at Worthing Library include:
- sessions on a variety of communication topics;
- bookable mini-consultations offering the opportunity to problem-solve specific communication issues; and
- the chance for people to discover what their local library has to offer.
The sessions are open to families, carer and staff in local services and are run by Speech and Language Therapists who have a background in working with adults.
West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services, Peter Catchpole, says: “This is a real chance for people to gain confidence and develop their communication skills when supporting someone with a learning disability. I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to be involved in these workshops.”
