Cortis Avenue Wildlife Garden needs your help

Hille Cook of Cortis Avenue Wildlife Garden (CAWG) needs more volunteers on a regular basis especially as Hille has back trouble at the moment.   All volunteers are made warmly welcome.

CAWG activities for the next two months:

The usual second Saturday of the month Open Day in February is postponed to Saturday February 15th.

February 8th – Annual Spring Fair and Seed Swap organised by Transition Town Worthing http://transitiontownworthing.ning.com/events/seed-swap-sow-and-grow-spring-fair

Someone’s help to take CAWG’s small notice board and garden information flyers would be appreciated.

Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th February – the garden urgently needs preparation for its open day on Saturday 15th. Light weeding around the apple trees to facilitate the free orchard care skills session on Saturday 15th.  Please let Hille know if you can spare an hour or so during these days.

February 15th – Saturday, Open Day at the garden – this is a ‘normal’ volunteer working and visiting day: In the morning, there’s a free orchard care training and skills-share session http://transitiontownworthing.ning.com/events/fruit-tree-care-pruning

Saturday February 15th and Monday 17th and Tuesday February 18th – Hille hopes for some volunteers anytime during these days – to start prepping a tree nursery bed for 150 tree ‘whips’ and sites to transplant plant some 2-3 year old Birch trees around the garden. Please get in touch if you can help.

Wednesday February 19th from 10.00 am to  4.00 pm – Tree Planting Day.  Volunteers needed to help host a day at the garden for young people undertaking National Citizenship Service (NCS) – tree planting!  If CAWG can successfully pitch as the fantastic and fun local and unique biodiverse wildlife project it is to the NCS participants during their visit on 19th, then two teams will return on March 1st and 2nd and March 8th and 9th.

Saturday  March 8th – Open Day 10.00am – 4.00 pm

Cortis Avenue Wildlife Garden provide tools and equipment (including gloves, but not boots, please dress appropriately for the weather ) – and CAWG ensures there’s always hot drinks for volunteers.
