The cost of the Montague Street Town Centre enhancement project is now estimated to be £5.3 million if it is to deliver the full range of Worthing master plan proposals.
The estimate is contained in an update on the scheme to the Worthing County Local Committee (CLC) being held tonight (Wednesday January 14th). There is currently a £1.1 million capital request to support the delivery of the first phase works in the 2015-16 financial year.
CLC Chairman Paul High wrote to the West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Cabinet Member for Finance on behalf of the committee last year requesting the funds to be allocated from the WSCC underspend for 2014-15.
The Cabinet Member Michael Brown has informed the Chairman the accounts are still being reconciled and any allocation of underspend to Capital Infrastructure Projects will depend on the outcome of this reconciliation.
Funds for the scheme were originally estimated around £1 million with Worthing Borough Council contributing £750,000 from collected developer funds (S106 monies).
The Worthing County Local Committee meets at 7.00 pm at the Elm Grove First School, Elm Grove, Worthing. All are welcome.
