Worthing Borough Council unanimously approved the motion moved by Cllr Hazel Thorpe for a bulk energy purchase scheme on Tuesday night (April 16th). Buying in bulk will enable residents to get cheaper rates.
The motion instructs officers to bring forward a report, as a matter of urgency, outlining proposals for Worthing Borough to introduce a collective switching scheme and to enable Worthing residents to benefit from a community initiative saving them large amounts on their energy bills.
The scheme launched by Energy Minister Ed Davey last year already has 91 Councils of all parties taking part.
