Council supports Worthing fishermen

Worthing Borough Council showed support for their in-shore fishermen with a motion on Tuesday night (April 16th).   Cllr Nicky Waight proposed the motion and  Conservatives and Liberal Democrats came together to approve without dissent.

The motion read:  “That the Council strongly supports fishing opportunities, in the form of quotas, being reallocated to the fishing fleets using the most sustainable fishing methods and in particular to the small craft which operate from Worthing Beach.    This is to ensure that this centuries old tradition may survive and that the town may enjoy continued access to local seafood and the social and economic benefit which comes from a vibrant local fishing fleet.”
