To mark the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, Alan Readman gives an illustrated talk at Worthing Library at 12.00 noon on Saturday June 7th.
Alan will describe the build-up to D-Day in West Sussex, using archive sources and personal recollections. He will cover the military occupation of the county, the airfields, and the departure of the invasion forces and include aspects of the story particular to West Sussex such as the Mulberry Harbours.
Based for many years based at the West Sussex Records Office as County Archivist Alan is ideally placed to speak on this subject. His books include “D-Day West Sussex: springboard for the Normandy Landings 1944” (with Ian Grieg and Kim Leslie).
Tickets are £3 and include refreshments. To reserve a place, contact Worthing Library in person, or by phone.
