Elderly lady hit on A27 sadly dies

 

An 80-year-old woman hit by a van on the A27 at the junction with Shandon Road, Worthing close to Lyons Farm last month has sadly died.

The lady was Joan Martin, of Beeches Avenue, Worthing.

She was walking across the A27 on Wednesday August 21st  when she was hit by a Volkswagen Transporter van.  She fell backwards, banging her head on a wall.

She was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a fractured skull, two broken arms and internal injuries. She was transferred to Worthing Hospital but sadly died there yesterday  (Wednesday  September 11th).

The 38-year-old driver, from Woodingdean, was not hurt.
