Elderly lady suffers broken arm in Worthing handbag snatch

 

A woman in her seventies sustained a broken arm when her handbag was snatched near Steyne Gardens, Worthing on Saturday November 9th. The victim was walking from the shops to catch a bus home when the assault took place at around 4.40 pm.

Her handbag was snatched by a man who approached her from behind, causing her to fall to the ground. As a result she sustained a broken arm, chipped shoulder bone, sprained ankle, and serious bruising to her body, for which she was treated at Worthing Hospital.

The handbag was abandoned nearby, but her purse, which contained a small quantity of cash, had been taken from it.

Detective Constable Debbie Birch said; “This was a nasty attack, and very distressing for the victim.
