Emerson: Pictures of an Exhibitionist from Canada

Jason Woodford is making a movie of Keith Emerson’s autobiography ‘Pictures of an Exhibitionist’ written back in 2003 after Keith underwent surgery on his hands.  Jason lives in Okanagan, British Columbia in Canada.

David Woodford, Jason’s father, has his roots in Worthing but married Liz a Canadian lass.  The family moved to Canada when David retired to be close to his wife’s father.  Jason attended schools in Worthing including Durrington High and went on to gain a BA (Honours) degree in Script-writing for Film & Television at Bournemouth University.

David went to Maybridge School  in Worthing where he met Keith Emerson and they have been friends for nearly sixty years.  They both sang in the choir at St Richards, Maybridge.  Keith now lives in California and being on the same time zone David caught up with him in Canada.

Keith was impressed with one of Jason’s short films and the idea for the documentary sprang from there.

Liz Woodford said: “It’s a real family project between Keith’s and our family. I am doing all the transcriptions for the film, over 50 so far.

“ We are trying to raise funds  through  Indiegogo, for Jason’s film shoot in Kentucky, when Keith receives his Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Liz and David are trying to trace members of The Black Aces, a Worthing band from the 1960s that featured Keith Emerson.
