Families flock to Tarring Picnic in the Park

Families flocked to the Tarring Picnic in the Park on Thursday (August 15th) for a fun-filled free day out.  Local traders said it was the best “Picnic” ever with over 2,000 people estimated to have joined in the fun.

Worthing Youth Mayor Brogan Kirkby-Bott set the scene with her opening speech welcoming everyone to the park. Bee Fit kicked off the entertainment in the arena with fun fitness for the fives and unders,  followed by a drumming session and the ever popular zumba.

New this year was a “Tarring’s got Talent” contest judged by Worthing Mayor Bob Smytherman. Eight year old singer Abbie Brydon  was the well deserved winner.

Owls about town, Circus Seen, the police and fire service, story telling and kite surfing were among the dozens of stalls providing further entertainment.

A delighted organiser Norah Fisher said: “I just wanted to say a big thank you to all those who made the picnic the successful day it was.  Everyone worked extremely hard, and the feedback I got was really positive. The sun shone on us all, and it looked like there were record numbers attending.”
