Five people arrested on suspicion of breaking into homes and garages in Worthing have been released on bail.
Police arrested the group in a raid in Worthing town centre by officers investigating a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Goring.
When the males aged 26, 25, 18 and 17 and 22-year-old woman were arrested, a large number of items suspected of having being stolen in break-ins were discovered and seized.
The five were questioned on suspicion of breaking into a house and a garage in Rose Walk, Goring, late on Sunday 18 August or early on Monday 19 August.
The men aged 26, 25 and 18 were released on bail until October 7th. The 17-year-old and the woman were released on bail until October 8th.
Sussex Police has launched Operation Magpie to tackle burglary across the county.
Detective Inspector Andy Westwood, of West Sussex CID, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who knows anything about burglaries in the Goring area.
“Also, if you see anyone acting suspiciously in your area don’t hesitate to dial 999. We would rather be called out to something harmless than not to be called out to something that turns out to be harmful.”
