Team members at the Golden Lion on The Strand in Goring-By-Sea and their customers have donated a cheque worth £550 to the St Barnabas House hospice.
The Greene King pub raised the money by auctioning off customers’ and team members’ unwanted Christmas gifts. There was a variety of presents donated to the auction, including alcohol, board games, cuddly toys and even a novelty toilet seat.
St Barnabas House is an independently run charity hospice and cares for adults who are approaching the end of their lives.
Emma Lloyd, relief manager of the Golden Lion, said: “We are really pleased with the amount we raised for St Barnabas House. The auction was well supported and we would like to thank everyone who came along and helped raise these much-needed funds.”
Richard Lewis, managing director for Greene King Local Pubs, said: “It is great to see how well our teams and customers join forces to generously raise money for such worthy causes. It is times like these when we can really see the vital role pubs can play at the centre of their community.”
