Handbag returned after Worthing burglary

Police are trying to find out how a green and beige spotted handbag stolen in a burglary at a house in Orchard Avenue, Worthing, came to be returned to the owner’s doorstep.

The theft occurred overnight on Tuesday/Wednesday (December 9th/10th) when an intruder or intruders also took the keys to the householder’s Ford Cougar car and stole that, too.

The distinctive Cath Kidston-labelled oilcloth, short handled handbag was later left on the doorstep overnight on Wednesday/Thursday ( December 17th/18th).

CID investigator Katy Wood said: “There was no note with it and we are keen to find out if someone found it and kindly tried to return it to its rightful owner. I would appeal to anyone who did so to get in touch with us as soon as possible, please.”

That person, and anyone else who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the Orchard Road area, is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 187 of December 10th.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
