Worthing Flingathon on the beach opposite Thorn Road from 1.00 pm organised by Paul Holden & The Worthing Journal.
The Flingathon commemorates the sinking of the SS Indiana on February 27th 1901 after colliding with the German steamship SS Washington. The cargo of oranges and fruit washed up on Worthing beach and residents rushed to collect the then valuable commodity.
Money raised at the event will go to 18 year-old Lauren Jones, Worthing’s wheelchair ace from Offington. Lauren was left paralysed from the waist down after falling from a tree.
