Homeless help in Beach Clean Up

Two Worthing homeless men were among around 30 people who took part in the Sunny Worthing Community Beach Clean Up this afternoon (Monday April 14th).

Beach Clean Up organiser Colm Sweet said:Nigel was very keen to have his photo taken to show that he is putting back into the community. Nigel was homeless and is now currently in hostel accommodation. Both he and another homeless/hostel resident called Wayne worked hard for two hours.

“They walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Nigel even took a litter picker and some rubbish sacks so that he can come back later in the week.”

The volunteers removed about 20 bags of rubbish from the beach between the Lido and Splash Point.   Adur & Worthing Council Services (AWCS) picked up the rubbish at the end.

Colm added:  “It’s not about moaning and it’s not about putting your hand in your pocket.  It’s about actually going out and doing positive things.”
