People in Worthing have the chance to ensure the very best nurses get the recognition they deserve by nominating them for the second 2014 Proud to Care awards. The idea behind setting up Proud to Care is to shine a light on the very best nursing care.
The awards are open to nurses, health visitors, midwives and care staff in Sussex and Surrey – both teams and individuals are eligible. There is a ‘Public Choice’ award, and then other categories which are open for NHS staff to nominate the colleagues who they feel go above and beyond the call of duty to look after the people they care for.
If you know an individual or team who has given care which went beyond your expectations, or showed exceptional compassion, skill, or commitment, then nominate the person or the team for the Public Choice award. The deadline is only weeks away – January 20th – so do not delay.
Sandie Ellard, deputy director of nursing, said: “NHS staff often do incredible things for the people they care for, but don’t always realise just what an incredible, positive impact they can have on someone’s life. It might be just the small things, like taking time to talk to someone when they are feeling vulnerable, or it might be saving someone’s life in an emergency – every day our nursing staff are doing amazing work and it is so rewarding when someone expresses their appreciation.
“We firmly believe that our staff are among the best there is – if you know about nursing staff who are special, please let everybody else know just how good they are, and nominate them.”

The ceremony will be held on March 28th 2014, at the Copthorne Hotel, Effingham, Gatwick.
