On Saturday August 2nd ‘On Location Films’ holds a commemorative event on and around Worthing Pier featuring the screening of Richard Attenborough’s 1969 film Oh! What A Lovely War at 2.30 pm.
On Location Films is a group that shows films in locations and with an atmosphere intended to make the viewing experience significantly better than watching at home. They have shown a number of classic films in Worthing over the past several years.
The film will be preceded from 1.00 pm. until 2.30 pm. by a number of related activities. These will include a brass band parading along the prom, street theatre by actors in Pierrot costumes, a Recruiting Office, and some original kit – such as two machine guns of the period – displayed by members of the Royal Sussex. A WW1 Time line will also be set out on part of the pier, with two local historians to guide visitors along it.
It may not be all over by Christmas, but it will be by 6.00 pm !
On Location Films is a not-for-profit group and will be collecting money for the Queen Alexandra Home and Hospital for injured ex-service personnel in Worthing
Tickets cost £10 (£7 concessions) and are available from Worthing Theatres on 01903 206206 or online at : worthingtheatres.co.uk
On Location Films think it will be a special day, and hope to see you there!
