Residents wish on traffic lights comes true

Residents wish on traffic lights comes true

Tim Nicholls has long argued for a change to the traffic lights at the junction of Northcourt Road and Cecilian Avenue with Broadwater Road.  Mr Nicholls as Chair of South Broadwater Residents Association wanted the phasing changed to allow traffic from Northcourt Road to be held while those from Cecilian Avenue could go and vice versa.  His wish has now come true with the new phasing of the lights.

Traffic engineers working on the lights thought they were first with the idea but Tim has campaigned for the change for several years after seeing a similar change at the Lyndhurst Road and Brougham Road junction with Ham Road.

Tim Nicholls said: “I am delighted the new traffic lights have the phasing I suggested some years ago. All things come to those who wait.”

Broadwater residents welcome the change although there were some teething problems with the timing causing tail backs along Broadwater Road.  The lights have now been adjusted to ease the problem.
