The future of the Aquarena site in Worthing will be discussed at a public meeting at 5.00 pm on Tuesday 14th October 2014. The meeting is organised by Roffey Homes and held in their Beach Residences Marketing Suite on Marine Parade.
This the second public consultation on the proposed re-development of the Aquarena and will give the local community an opportunity to guide the future of the site and to have their say on the provision of new homes in the town.
Worthing Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor Bryan Turner, says: “Placing the right development on the Aquarena site is going to be key in providing a mixture of high quality apartments and affordable homes for our under-pressure housing market.”
“With the pace of economic growth picking up, Worthing is in an increasingly strong position and we need an accommodation offer to support that growth.”
“This second public consultation from Roffey Homes is going to be important in ensuring that not only does the town get the accommodation mix that it needs, but that our existing residents get the landmark architecture they deserve.”
Once the public consultations are completed , it is expected Roffey Homes will submit a full planning application to Worthing Borough Council for the Planning Committee to consider on its merits, independently from the Council as the landowner. Any application is subject to further public consultation before a final decision is taken by Worthing Planning Committee and it is solely up to Roffey Homes as the developer to demonstrate an acceptable scheme for the site. The Council and Roffey Homes do hold a contract for the purchase of the site, subject to planning permission being granted.
