Tens of thousands stolen from businessman’s Ham Road home

Tens of thousands of pounds in cash and jewellery were stolen in a burglary from a businessman’s home in Ham Road, Worthing on Tuesday January 21st.

The 30 year-old victim was out when his home was broken into between 6.40 pm and 7.15 pm. The intruders smashed a patio door to get inside, searched the home and took a safe containing cash, passports and gold jewellery.

Detective Constable Chris Merryfield-Day said: “We believe the burglars approached the house on foot, broke the patio door and searched the home but then left and returned with a small black car that they parked outside.

“They then dragged the safe out of the house, loaded it into the car and drove away.

“Anyone who was in the area or passing by may have seen or heard what was going on. They may not know exactly what happened but they could have some information that could help us identify those involved.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1330 of January 21st, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
