Worthing Speakers’ Club holds a ‘Speech on the Beach’ at Splash Point on Thursday (July 17th) to assist one of their newer members – Town Crier Bob Smytherman .
Bob has been officially appointed as Town Crier by Worthing Town Centre Initiative and the Borough Council. In addition to his membership of Worthing Speakers Club Bob is also a member of the Ancient and Honorable Guild of Town Criers and is available for bookings throughout the year.
The meeting begins at 7.30 pm and finishes at 9.00 pm. People can come along and take part or just enjoy seeing other people practice their Public Speaking skills in public.
Bob came to a club meeting as Mayor in order to discover what the club could do to assist people with their public speaking. He liked the atmosphere of the club evening meeting so much that he has now joined as a member.
Founder and active member Meg Heyworth said: “Anyone who is looking to build confidence in their personal or business life should sample the Toastmasters experience.”
Recently elected president Cecily Brotherton said: “In my time as a member I have lost count of the number of shy, introverted, even terrified people who have blossomed into confident, capable speakers.
“We can help ordinary people do extraordinary things, astonishingly quickly, at an astonishingly modest cost. People will spend thousands of pounds trying to achieve the results that Toastmasters can deliver for just a few pounds a month.”
