‘Into the Woods’ at Connaught Cinema

Into the Woods (PG) is the Silver Screen showing at the Connaught Cinema and Studio today (Monday January 19th). Tea and coffee are at 10.30 am with the film starting at 11.00 am.

Based on Stephen Sondheim’s acclaimed stage musical, Into the Woods brings together the heroes of many fairy tales – including Cinderella (Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (with Johnny Depp as the Wolf) and Jack (of Beanstalk fame) – in a tale about a baker and his wife (Corden and Blunt).

Cursed by a witch (Streep) to remain childless, the couple must venture into the forest and locate magical objects that will break her spell, encountering various fantastical characters along the way.

The irreverent tone of their quest and accompanying songs eventually gives way to more thoughtful messages about the dangers of wishful thinking and avarice, and the whole is a wonderfully engaging entertainment.

Silver Screen is a diverse mixture of the best modern movies, foreign language films and vintage Hollywood cinema, screening every Monday morning.

All tickets are £4.00 including complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

The Connaught Cinema and Studio are at 3 Union Place, Worthing.
