Worthing Cricket Club boy selected for Bunbury Festival

Nick Oxley, 14, who plays for Worthing Cricket Club Under 15’s has been selected to represent the South East Region in the Bunbury Cricket Festival later this month.

Nick was selected for Sussex Under 10’s at the age of eight and two years ago for the Emerging Player Programme which takes the most talented players from the squad.

Stan Oxley, Nick’s dad, said:  “Nick has been playing from the age of two – ever since he could hold a bat.”   Stan used to play himself but he is too busy now driving Nick to matches.

35 players are trialled to represent the South East Region at the Bunbury Festival  which are whittled down to a squad of 13.  Nick is in that squad and is honoured to follow in the footsteps of Alistair Cook, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann, Ian Bell and Andrew Flintoff.

Nick attends Worthing High School and was previously at Broadwater First & Middle Schools.

The 27th Bunbury Under 15s Cricket Festival is held at Durham University from July 21st to 26th.
