Worthing Mayor Bob Smytherman forsook the traditional open top bus for his mode of transport in the Worthing Rotary Carnival procession yesterday (August 26th). Instead Bob was much closer to ground level and to the people with his transport choice of a buggy.
Bob said: “Fantastic turn out for this year’s carnival as 1000’s enjoyed Worthing sun. It was great to be down with the people this year rather than an open top bus. Congratulations to Pauline Fox and Rotary Carnival Committee for organising such a special family event”
Yesterday’s sunshine brought out the crowds who both lined the streets for the procession and packed Steyne Gardens for the stalls, stage and arena events. There were over 30 floats in the procession.
The carnival has been annual event since the 1920s and is the flagship event for the three Rotary Clubs of Worthing, Worthing Steyne and West Worthing. The members of the three clubs work together to put on the best possible day’s entertainment for the people of Worthing and district.
